Edinburgh is Changing: Are You Ready to Make a Difference?

Our beautiful city of Edinburgh is facing a challenge like never before: climate change.
From unpredictable weather and rising sea levels to threats to our wildlife and historic landmarks, the effects are becoming more visible every day.
That’s why we launched the “Edinburgh is Changing” campaign- a city-wide movement to raise awareness, spark action, and build a more resilient Edinburgh.
Let’s protect what we love about our city—its history, its people, and its environment.

Did You Know?

  • Edinburgh has seen a 30% increase in winter rainfall over the last 50 years, leading to more frequent floods in areas like Stockbridge and the Water of Leith.
  • Iconic landmarks like Edinburgh Castle face erosion from heavier rains and rising temperatures, putting our history at risk.
  • Wildlife in Holyrood Park and other green spaces is under threat, with species struggling to adapt to changing ecosystems.

You Have a Role, Your Actions Matter:
Every action matters—big or small.
Every small step you take, like reducing waste, using public transport, or saving energy, makes a difference. Together, these actions add up to big change.
